In June 2025, PhD researcher Camille Lacorne had the pleasure of participating in the AméricAnimal summer school (https://www.madrid-ias.eu/es/novedad/perspectivas-historicas-y-arqueologicas-de-la-relacion-entre-poblaciones-humanas-y-animales-a-partir-del-ejemplo-americano-siglos-xvi-xix), Organized by the Casa de Velázquez (École des Hautes Études Hispaniques et Ibériques) in Madrid, Spain. This stimulating seminar focused on historical and archaeological perspectives on human-animal relationships in the Americas from the 16th to the 19th century. Camille had the opportunity to present the key aspects of her research project, Eco-Edge (Ecological Imperialism on the Edge of Europe). This event also provided a dynamic environment for engaging with researchers who share similar interests, and for exploring the wide range of sources that shed light on human-environment interactions during the modern period. It was a valuable moment of exchange and discovery that enriched both her perspectives and her ongoing work.
