Make-Up of the City

In my research, I try to answer archaeological and historical questions with the use of stable isotopes. In 2018 I finished my bachelor in Art Sciences and Archaeology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), and in 2019 I graduated from the University of Oxford (UK) after studying the MSc in Archaeological Science programme. During both studies, my specialisation dissertations were in isotopes.

In Februari 2020 I started my PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), focussing on the isotopic research for the inter-disciplinary research project: The Make-Up of the City. During this project I will focus on the development and improvement of several isotope extraction and measurement protocols. I will then apply these protocols on the medieval population of Ieper (Belgium) to answer historical questions about their lives with regard to mobility and diet from an isotopic point of view.
