With the Bruker Vertex 70v FTIR coupled with a Hyperion 3000 infrared microscope, it is possible to obtained infrared spectra in ATR mode of a wide range of samples going from bone to shells and more. It allows for example to assess the crystallinity of bone as well as assess the amount of organic matter present in different bioapatites. 

The Bruker Tornado 4 μXRF enables the elemental characterisation of different samples in both 1D and 2D (mapping). It is particularly interesting to assess the variations in elemental concentrations between different samples and obtain information about potential diagenetic alterations.
