The preparation lab is where the mechanical preparation of the samples takes place: drilling, cutting, sieving, etc. The lab is equipped with several handheld drills, an air abrader unit, a freeze mill as well as ovens, fridges and freezer to store the samples. 

In the chemistry lab, different steps take place including the chemical pre-treatments of cremated bones and tooth enamel, the collagen extraction of bone and dentine as well as the phosphate precipitation of different bioapatites. 

The newly designed class 1000 clean room is equipped with a class 100 laminar flow cabinet and a class 100 laminar flow fume cupboard. Different column chromatography extractions (e.g. Sr, Pb) are carried out in this lab.
